Deduction

We use deductive reasoning when we begin with things that we know are true, put them together, and follow them to the conclusions to which they lead.

You can answer this quesion by explaining in detail how, no matter which colors you choose, the way the neighborhoods meet near the arrow forces you to use 3 colors if you are to color the map correctly. Such an explanation is an example of deduction.

The First Theorem of Graph Theory is also an example of a deductive proof.
